Limited water supply on March 16-17 in Gurgaon

Gurgaon’s water supply will take a hit on March 16 and March 17, as Haryana Urban Development Authority (HUDA) will be shifting water utilities to Rajiv Chowk and Hero Honda Chowk.

The shifting of utilities is needed for the construction of underpasses at these two critical intersections on the Delhi-Gurgaon Expressway. The Basai water treatment plant will be shut for 24 hours so the master pipelines can be shifted.

Water supply will be affected in all the phases of DLF, Sushant Lok and HUDA sectors 14, 15 Part-I and II, 16, 17, 18, 19, 20, 22, 23, 25, 26, 27, 28, 29, 30, 31, 32, 38, 39, 40, 41, 43 and 44.

Condominiums on MG Road, shopping malls and commercial offices are also likely to be affected.

According to HUDA officials, the master pipeline that connects the water treatment plant in Basai, along with the booster station in Sector 16, will be most affected by the shifting process.

The water treatment plant supplies approximately 22MGD (million gallons per day) to the city. It takes one day for the plant to start functioning normally after it is shut.

HUDA has been asked by NHAI to shift the master pipeline, as it was interfering with the alignment of underpasses being built on the Delhi-Gurgaon Expressway.

Vijender Malik, SDO HUDA, said, “Four connections — two for Rajiv Chowk and two for Hero Honda Chowk — will be made for the new pipeline.”
