Pilot Court, a residential society in Essel Tower, Sector 28, Gurgaon, elected the members of the society’s managing committee in an election held recently.
In a first, the society elected two women candidates. Balvinder Kaur and Anila Bhatia were elected as officials of The Indian Airlines Pilot Co-operative House Building Society. Ajay Bagga , VK Jain, Anil Kumar Goyal, Capt. Shambhu Prasad Sinha and Captain DS Giare were also elected. The members will elect the president and the vice-president of the society soon.
There were 18 candidates, including three women, who were contesting the society election. There are 250 voters in the society, out of which 150 casted their vote. Only flat owners were allowed to cast their vote. The election takes place after every five years. The flat owners elect seven officials in every election.
Kaur told City Spidey, “There are several problems in our society. The biggest problems are illegal guest houses and PGs. We’ve put up a board regarding the prohibition of such commercial activities. Despite that, guest houses and PGs are still running in the society. There are no checks on them. We are determined to have them closed and will meet the district administration over the issue.”
“Those coming to the guest houses write abusive words in the society’s lifts. We feel embarrassed in front of our kids when using the lift. PG owners accommodate about 16 girls in a single flat. Guest houses have a bad impact on children. A family person cannot live with such residents. Our society’s swimming pool and club haven’t been maintained for several years. We will maintain them. We will also install CCTV cameras in the society’s lifts and elsewhere in the premises,” Kaur added.
Essel Tower is a posh township in the city on MG road. Several malls are located nearby and there are nine societies in the township, including Pilot Court.
