Dwarka: Fire breaks out at Pinnacle Mall

A fire broke out this morning at Pinnacle Mall in Sector 10, Dwarka. The mall is behind Welcom Hotel, where prominent cricketers such as MS Dhoni and Dinesh Kartik are putting up for the ongoing Vijay Hazare Trophy.

"We received a call about the incident at around 6.30 am," said Rajesh Pawar, deputy fire officer. "Using 30 fire tenders, we were able to get the situation under control by 7.50 am. There were no casualties."

According to police officials, about 550 people were evacuated from the premises of the mall and Welcom Hotel. According to a hotel staff, though the mall is behind the hotel, all rooms were evacuated as soon as smoke was sighted. Most of the evacuated guests were expatriates and cricket players.

According to the hotel staff, cricketers from the state teams of Jharkhand and Tamilnadu, who are on a tour to play the Vijay Hazare Trophy in Delhi, were staying at the hotel. Former Indian Captain, MS Dhoni and his teammates left for practice in the morning, while players of the Tamil Nadu team were seen roaming in the corridor after the fire was brought under control.
