The poor condition of roads, encroachments and waterlogging in Block U of DLF Phase III has become a nuisance for residents. The situation has become worse in the last year and residents blame the civic bodies and the developer for the state of affairs.

According to residents, the problems began around 10 years ago when a stretch of road was dug up in order to lay down a deep sewer. “The condition of Block U has worsened over time, with no road made on the stretch,” says Rajesh Kumar, a resident of Block U.

"The road has been in a pitiable state for over 10 years. No repair work was ever done. The situation worsens during monsoons and one can’t even walk on the stretch,” says Suresh Kumar, another resident.

During peak hours, there are heavy traffic jams resulting in bottlenecks on major roads across DLF Phase III.

Sushant Kumar, another resident of Block U, says, “We are really upset with the poor drainage system in the block. Despite repeated requests, there has been no change. All our requests have fallen on deaf ears and MCG officials seem unconcerned about our difficulties."

To make matters worse, sand and cement are dumped along the roadside which causes air pollution. “It has now become a threat to our health. Encroachments lead to waterlogging even after a brief spell of rain," says Afzal Khan, another resident.
