Here are City Spidey's top five picks from Noida and Ghaziabad:

MLA’s assurance: Sectors 119 and 120 in Noida were assured by MLA Vimla Batham that all their issues relating to civic amenities would be resolved. The issues included poor quality of drinking water, lack of connection of the sewers to the main drain, aggressive stray dogs, and lack of a community centre and post office. The assurance came during Batham’s visit to the sectors as part of her Vidhayak Apke Dwar (MLA at your doorstep) campaign on Sunday.

Race for smart-city tag: Ghaziabad Municipal Corporation (GMC) is improving on its smart-city proposal, which it had sent to the Union Urban Development Ministry December last year. The GMC will send the revised proposal, incorporating the improvement plan in it, to the ministry for assessment and selection in the second round of the Smart City Mission.

Greener Noida: Noida is in for a green drive. As many as 3.25 lakh trees will be planted in the district as per the directions of UP Chief Minister Akhilesh Yadav. The state government had earlier directed the administration to plant 6.5 lakh trees, but owing to space shortage because of infrastructure development, the number of saplings has been halved.

Doctors’ ultimatum: Ghaziabad residents who went to Combined Hospital, MMG Hospital and District Women Hospital for OPD services on Monday had a harrowing time. The services remained paralysed for three hours due to a doctors’ protest against lax security at their official quarters. The doctors threatened indefinite suspension of OPD services in all government hospitals if culprits behind a robbery in a colleague's house inside Combined Hospital premises were not arrested by Wednesday.

Student protest: Students of a private college in Greater Noida on Monday protested against the alleged inaction of authorities in a case of attempted rape on a B Tech student. The incident took place in the college hostel in the Knowledge Park area on Sunday night. Senior police officers, who rushed to the spot to pacify agitating students, assured them action would be taken. DSP Arun Kumar said that an FIR had already been lodged against an unidentified person.
