Noida fire department set for an upgrade

In four months' time, Noida Authority plans to provide its fire department with two advanced fire rescue vehicles and two water tankers of 10,000-litre capacity each.

According to Noida Authority officials, the cost of each rescue vehicle is about Rs 1.25 crore.

Ram Raja Yadav, chief fire officer of Gautam Buddh Nagar, told City Spidey, “It has been six months since we began demanding these. Thankfully, Noida Authority has decided to act on our demands.”

Yadav added, "The fire department does have disaster vans, but the advanced rescue vehicles will be far more superior. After we get the vehicles, we can arrange training sessions for the teams.”

Besides other features, this special vehicle is capable of lifting weights up to 40 tonnes. A combi cutter toolkit installed in the van can easily cut through hard surfaces and roofs, which will speed up rescue efforts.
