MCD polls and results delayed by a day

Delhi municipal elections and electoral counting dates have allegedly been postponed by a day each. MCD polls for 272 municipal wards, will now be held on April 23. Poll results will be announced on April 26.

Although there has been no official announcement by Delhi Election Commission on the development so far, sources have confirmed the change of date.

Changes on the election dates were allegedly made because Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) has declared Class XII examination dates on April 22 and April 25. The Delhi Election Commission announced the election date on March 14, while CBSE had released the dates way before.

On the afternoon of March 22, when City Spidey contacted CBSE's head office, at Preet Vihar, Rama Sharma, a senior Public Relations Officer (PRO), confirmed that they had made no changes to the examinations dates so far.

Later in the evening, when City Spidey contacted the Delhi Election Commission office in this regard, an official hinted at election commission officials having discussed the issue. When probed further, he said the final decision would be made this morning.
