Why Sec 48 RWA has its meetings in the open

When 60 letters pleading for a Community Centre over 11 years fail to stir Noida Authority, it has no option but to meet under the open skies!

Why Sec 48 RWA has its meetings in the open

Residents of Sector 48 Noida have been waiting for a community centre for the past 11 years. Their long-standing demand, with at least 60 letters to Noida Authority, has fallen on deaf ears.

"The sector was allotted by Noida Authority in 1999 and developed in 2003. The RWA was formed in 2006 but is yet to have its own community centre," said Dinesh Bhati, RWA President. "We don't even have an RWA office. We have a makeshift arrangement that we run from a green area. The community centre can double as an office."

Residents depend on the community centres of sectors 44 and 50 to organise functions. There have also been instances when expensive options such as farmhouses and banquet halls have been explored.

City Spidey took up this issue with RS Yadav, project engineer of Noida Authority. "We are aware of this problem but need approval from the planning department," he said.

The planning department, however, passed the buck to the senior management of Noida Authority. They said the cost estimate for the community centre had already been sent to higher authorities and is awaiting approval.
