Prateek Wisteria gets speed breakers installed near society

Residents of Prateek Wisteria, a residential society in Sector 77, Noida, have managed to get speed breakers installed in front of an exit gate of the society by the Delhi Metro Rail Corporation.

In February, residents had approached DMRC, which is developing a Metro line between Noida and Greater Noida, and urged officials to put speed breakers on the road as the area was prone to accidents. The officials agreed and had two speed breakers, made of plastic, installed on March 23.

The society is in close proximity to a construction site for the DMRC Metro line. Construction of the speed breakers comes under the ambit of Noida Authority. Amit Gupta, a resident of the society, told City Spidey, "We approached DMRC instead of Noida Authority because we felt that the Authority would have taken longer to install the speed breakers."

Gupta said that there were vehicles coming from three different directions on the road, including one from the society. “There was a high possibility of vehicles colliding. I am sure that the speed breakers would make vehicles reduce their speeds,” he said.

Residents had earlier carried out an awareness drive to sensitise commuters about the perils of driving in the wrong direction. They claim that the drive succeeded in controlling violation of traffic rules up to some extent.

“We are working professionals who made time for the drive. But after the drive was over, we saw some commuters returning to their old ways,” added Gupta.
