The RWA of DLF City, Gurgaon, is set to upgrade their security surveillance system at the entry gates of DLF Phases I, II and III with 29 CCTV cameras and LED lights.

The move came after Deepak Saharan, DCP (East), met RWA members and asked them to improve their surveillance system. Saharan told City Spidey, “I had requested the RWA members to increase the number of cameras. This will not only improve security in the area but will also ensure tracking of entry and exit movements of domestic help and others. We will regularly check the footage for any unusual activity in the area”.

Residents also felt the need to strengthen the system after thefts of side-view mirrors of luxury cars in Block A, DLF Phase III. The security upgrade will cost Rs 2.75 lakh, which will be funded by the RWA.

Gurgaon police has recommended three-megapixel high-end cameras that are also effective at night. These cameras have features such as intelligent video analytics, number plate recognition, and detection of entry and exit movements. Apart from keeping a watch on miscreants, including those who conduct a recce in the area before committing a crime, the CCTVs will facilitate the police in tracking vehicles.

While the system can be operated remotely, the dedicated high-speed overhead optical fibre network installed has robust features and would ensure that the cameras don't get affected in extreme weather.

According to the police, a team from DLF City Phase II police station will constantly monitor the control room at DLF office on Arjun Marg. There are 20 cameras already installed in the society but they were not enough.

“We have placed the order for the IP CCTV cameras on March 20, and they will be installed soon. We will have more number of cameras now,” said Sudhir Kapoor, general secretary of the RWA.
