FedAOA demands proper verification of helpers and tenants

A driver's verification record — with police seal on it — reveals the details of Rahul Gandhi, and even a picture of him! But, have things changed after that? Hardly, say residents.

FedAOA demands proper verification of helpers and tenants

In a letter to SSP Ghaziabad Deepak Kumar, residents of Indirapuram have once again raised the issue of verification of tenants, domestic helps and other helpers.

The letter, written under the aegis of FedAOA — an apex body of AOAs in Indirapuram — sought police assistance for conducting proper verification of tenants, domestic helps, guards, drivers and other helpers.

The residents alleged that though police verification was carried out, the measures were only half-hearted and merely an act of formality. The letter stated that certain basic aspects of background information — and other specifications — were missing from official records.

Alok Kumar, a patron of FedAOA and a resident of Arihant Harmony, said, “A large number of forms from various societies were reviewed during a meeting. We found the verification hardly adequate.”

He added, “In many cases, the names of the tenants and domestic helps were not mentioned — in others, the identity of the apartment owners was missing. What is the point of such verification? Is this not merely lip service in the name of verification?"

The letter suggested inclusion of the complete identity of the helper or tenant — including his or her current address, background information, name and number of family members, place of origin and original address, identification mark, details about the flat owner's identity and the termination date of the contract, along with a latest photo.

A few months back, in a rather bizarre case, a driver's verification was marked with the details and the picture of Congress Vice-President Rahul Gandhi! Topping it, the form also had the verification seal of the Indirapuram police.

The incident got a lot of press attention, but unfortunately, the situation hasn't changed much even after then.

FedAOA members have also suggested that the records include identification proof, such as the Aadhar card, along with a recent photo and signature.

Despite several attempts by City Spidey, the SSP could not be reached on the phone.
