No plans for water meters: Noida Authority

Seems like Noida has to wait some more for the much-needed water meters.

No plans for water meters: Noida Authority

Greater Noida is all geared up to instal water meters that send consumption-based water bills to residents. After having to suffer inflated water bills for years, Noida, however, has no plans of getting these meters anytime soon, admits HS Yadav, chief maintenance engineer of Noida Authority.

“Each house should have a water meter installed. It makes the whole system transparent and reliable. Once installed, we will pay for the amount consumed and not more,” said Rishipal Singh Awana, President of RWA, Sector 19.

President of Federation of Noida RWAs, NP Singh echoed the same view. He said that the several RWAs have been complaining of inflated water bills and poor quality of water. Every home needs to be equipped with water meter.

One of the worst affected is Prateek Wisteria Apartments in Noida sector 77. They collectively paid Rs 3.6 lakh to Noida Authority as water and sewer bill for January alone. Earlier, they had deposited Rs 15.82 lakh for the four preceding months.

Himmat Singh, a resident of the society, demanded that Noida Authority take this issue up at the board meeting on March 9. Installation of water meters and charging as per consumption is a must, he added.
