This is what the authorities promised...and we are watching

Will these officials from across Delhi-NCR really walk the talk?

This is what the authorities promised...and we are watching

GURGAON

March 29: V Umashankar, Commissioner, Municipal Corporation of Gurgaon, on the acute water shortage in sectors 21, 22 and 23

"Although supply should start in about four days, it would be a temporary solution. We are going to build a water-boosting station. That should take a year to become operational. Once that is ready, these sectors will not face water supply problems any more. But until then, we will make some alternative arrangements to ensure the people in these sectors don't suffer."

March 28: Rohit Yadav, joint commissioner, Municipal Corporation of Gurgaon on the dug-up road at Fazilpur Crossing

“We were working on the widening of the road as there is heavy vehicular movement the entire day. We levelled the road to solve traffic congestion. But the repair work has been delayed due to sector transfer. Once the developer submits the requisite documents, we would begin the work.”

NOIDA

March 28: Saumya Srivastava, deputy CEO of Noida Authority, on illegal generator sets placed on roads

"I have received mixed reactions from various resident bodies. While some are in favour of removing the gensets, others have requested to consider their concerns before initiating action on them. The project engineers have been instructed to consult RWAs to discuss the issues and compile a report of points raised by them within a week. The Authority is aware that gensets are costly and it doesn’t want to damage them during forceful removal. So residents should take these sets in their premises or else the Authority will be forced to take action.”

March 23: RS Gautam, project engineer, traffic cell of Noida Authority, on delays in construction of traffic park

"The project should have been completed by now, but there was a delay in passing a tender by the Authority's electricity department. Elections played a major role in the project's delay. Hopefully, it will be completed in the next four months."

GHAZIABAD

March 25: Sunil Sharma, BJP MLA from Sahibabad, on sewer blockage, choked drains, encroachments and sanitation

"The problems of the street will be solved on the street. Officials who don’t perform their duties well will have to leave Ghaziabad. Whatever roadblocks come in the way of residents’ welfare will be cleared through discussion or will be dealt with from Lucknow. "

March 23: Atul Kumar, additional district magistrate of Ghaziabad, on encroachments in Ahinsa Khand I

"The daily market would only be allowed if the vendors conducted their business on the footpath and not on the road."

EAST DELHI

March 21: Pradeep Gupta, junior engineer, PWD, on the new solar streetlights being installed in Delhi

"The project is at a nascent stage now. The system installed in these lights will enable them to automatically switch to cable-supplied electricity if ever the solar panels are unable to supply power. We have been installing all lights with the same system these days — roads, bridges and even foot overbridges. Depending on the success of this project, PWD would set up solar panels on every street pole in Delhi. We also want to instal solar-powered lights in residential societies. We also need MCD's support to realise the project."

March 22: VP Sharma, a senior EDMC official, on the drive to remove illegal hoardings, banners and posters

"The drive was launched as per a directive by Dr Mohan Jeet Singh, EDMC commissioner. We aim to remove all illegal hoardings and posters in the next two days and keep them off. Delhi State Election Commission has also issued a directive to all municipal bodies today to cover all advertisements boards bearing either the name of Aam Aadmi Party or an image of any its leaders. I appeal to residents to call the corporation on 011-22165880 if they notice any illegal or political hoarding in their neighbourhood."
