MCG raises maintenance funds for parks

The Municipal Corporation of Gurgaon (MCG) has raised the monthly funds given to RWAs for maintenance of parks. It has hiked the amount from Rs 1.35 per sq m to Rs 3 per sq m.

The step has come as a big relief to RWAs, who have been asking for a raise for several months now.

MCG additional commissioner Amit Khatri said, "The RWAs had been demanding a hike due to inflation. We have increased the rates for maintenance, and it will be applicable from April. The MCG has 494 parks, of which 301 are maintained by RWAs. They are also keen to manage another 150 parks.”

The RWA president of Sector 46, Raj Kumar Yadav, told City Spidey, "We welcome the MCG's decision. With inflation, it had become impossible to maintain the parks at the earlier rates. However, the measure should have come a little earlier. But as they say, better late than never.”

The Sector 45 RWA president, Surendra Kaushik, added, "We could hardly afford a gardener at the previous rate. But now, hopefully, the parks will be maintained properly. We will keep part of the money for beautification.”
