The women residents of Valley View Estate in Gurgaon recently participated in the All Ladies Cricket League (ALCL) held at Ajanta Public School in Sector 31.

The league, organised by Gugu Events & Adventures in collaboration with Ryder's Sports Academy in Gurgaon, opened with four teams. The event is aimed at providing women a break from their hectic professional life and daily household chores.

Dharna Yadav, ACP, Headquarters; Maj Gen (Retd) Razdan; Vijay Aima, president of All India Kashmiri Samaj; Ramesh Kapoor, chairperson of Ajanta Public School; Raj Nehru, VC of Vishwakarma University; and several other officials from MCG and HUDA were present on the occasion.

 

The winning team, Valley Pink Tower

 

The match began with the Valley Pink Tower team from Valley View Estate. Winning the toss, it elected to bat first. The team put up a score of 129 runs from 15 overs for the SPF Women Power team to chase. The latter failed to clock the required runs.

Ritu Yadav, captain of Valley Pink Tower, said, “We are thrilled by the victory. We have been practising for the past three weeks. This is just the beginning. Our aim is to win the trophy.”

In the second match, the Best of Gurgaon (BOG) team from Gurgaon police and administration, defeated the Rest of Gurgaon (ROG) team, which had members from various other teams, by 22 runs.

 

The Valley Pink Tower team put up a score of 129 runs

 

Sub-inspector Geeta Yadav, captain of the BOG team, said, “We had practised only for a day, but on the day, we played hard. Such events not only help us keep fit, they also motivate us to do things for ourselves.”

While the women played on the field, the men played babysitters and took care of household chores.  

Pummy Pandita from the audience said, “These events are a great boost to our confidence, and they offer entertainment too.”
