Noida: Choked drain irks Kendriya Vihar II residents

Residents of Kendriya Vihar II, in Sector 82, Noida, say an open drain right outside Gate No 1 of the society has become a cause for concern.

The drain, which runs along the society's boundary wall, has been choked for the past four years. During monsoons, the drain overflows, inundating nearby areas such as the Sector 82 signal and even parts of the society. The drain has also become the breeding ground for mosquitoes.

Kapil Madan, a member of the society's AOA, told City Spidey they had asked Noida Authority officials to clean the drain and get it covered, but to no avail. "Last year, there were several cases of dengue and chikungunya reported from the society," he added.

When City Spidey contacted Manoj Singh, project engineer of Noida Authority, he said he had not received any complaint from the society. "We will soon send a two-member team to address the matter," said Singh.
