It has been more than two years that the road in Sector 7, Dwarka — starting from Brahma Apartments to Ganpati Chowk — was repaired. But the one-kilometre stretch now lies broken and potholed.
This road leads to Ramphal Chowk market, one of the busiest areas in Dwarka.
Ramadhar Sharma, a resident of Brahma Apartments, says, "The road needs urgent repairs. It connects us to the market, and is almost always busy. But its damaged condition slows down traffic, leading to congestion.”
The sector has 1,200 plots. The RWA has repeatedly complained to Delhi Development Authority (DDA), but no action has been taken so far.
Randhir Singh Panwar, RWA president, rues, "We have filed many complaints with the Authority. Every time, they promise to take quick action, but nothing happens.”
He adds, “It has been more than two years that the road was repaired. But it was damaged again within a few weeks. This just goes to show the poor quality of work done. And then, it was dug up again!”
According to Nitin Solanki, another resident, the road was dug up by Delhi Jal Board to fit water pipelines, but was left unattended after that. “The potholes remained. The locals, in fact, filled up a few with soil,” he adds.
“Last year, the Authority told us they would start accepting tenders for repair work, and the condition would soon improve. But nothing was done,” Solanki says.
On condition of anonymity, an engineer from DDA said, “We have been getting complaints regarding this. We will start work soon.”
