Here’s some good news for residents of Gurgaon. Soon they will be able to fill their driving license (DL) forms online instead of having to visit the sub divisional magistrate’s office for the purpose. Standard operating procedure (SOP) will be implemented in the city from April 10.

Sushil Sarwan, SDM, told City Spidey, "We are taking the whole procedure for the driving license online. From April 10, forms will be filled online. Files will also be prepared online. This system will bring transparency."

With the SOP in place, a resident will also get an appointment for the driving test. The compulsion of a medical test will also be removed. However, for those over 50 years of age, a medical test for renewal of driving license will be compulsory. Such residents will have the option of presenting a certificate attested by a MBBS doctor.

The applicants would have to purchase a file at an E-Disha centre for Rs 10. These files will have a special unique number that will differentiate files prepared by the centre from those by agents and touts. Driving license files prepared by touts will be rejected.

Meanwhile, residents are looking forward to the move. Ritesh Yadav, general secretary of Park View Society RWA, Sector 48, says, “Such systems should also be adopted by other departments. It’ll be a huge relief for residents applying for a license. They wouldn’t have to waste their time at the SDM office anymore.”
