The traffic on Gurgaon-Faridabad road has become a nuisance for commuters. Residents of Valley View Apartments are worst hit by the daily jams.

The situation is such that the commuting time in off-peak hours has increased too. The road is a busy junction of traffic coming from Faridabad and Noida, and going towards Gurgaon, Manesar or Sohna. The traffic on this road has increased tremendously in the past year. Despite the traffic, the width of the road has not been increased. Hence traffic jams on the road are easily triggered by accidents or breakdown of vehicles on the road.

Ajay Pandita, a resident of DLF Phase I, told City Spidey, “There are four red lights at places such as Khushboo Chowk, DLF Phase V, Ghata and near Valley View. The traffic moves slowly. When it should take 20 minutes to reach Gurgaon, it takes us over an hour. There are also trucks that are standing on the roadside waiting to be given entry, which make the road cramped.”

Residents also say that the road does not have streetlights, which affects movement after sundown.

Balbir Singh, DCP traffic, told City Spidey, “We are aware of the congestion on this road and we have posted adequate staff there to control the traffic. We have written to MCG regarding the widening of the road and installation of lights. As far as red lights are concerned, we will think of the compulsory left option and, if feasible, shall try it out after discussion with other officials.”
