Dwarka hosted the second edition of Fun Run on April 9, organised by Hindustan Marathon. The event saw about 200 participants from across the NCR. Children above the age of 14 also participated.

The first edition was held last year from the Sector 10 ground.

Starting from Sector 13, near the Metro station, the marathon was divided into two categories — 5 km and 10 km. The top three male and female contenders from each category were awarded trophies and participation certificates.

Former armyman Pradeep Lohchup, a resident of Sector 6, Dwarka, told City Spidey, “I was part of the previous edition too. I wish more running events were organised here. Running can only yield benefits, so everyone should start running to get a healthy life.”

Swara Verma, 41, came from Gurgaon to participate in the event. She said, “I started running only a few months back. But once I started, I found the whole thing quite exciting. Also, I am diabetic, so running helps me keep a check on my health.”

She added, “I got to know of the event through Facebook and registered for it. My husband and son also came with me."

Aman Singh, co-organiser of the event, said, “This run is for fun. It is our attempt to spread health awareness. We want to make people understand the benefits of running. Anyone can start running for better health and fitness.”

Established in 2015, Hindustan Marathon targets sportive, running and lifestyle events. “We are excited to be able to organise running events in India — to build and expand a healthy community,” added Singh.
