Dwarka: Awareness programme urges homemakers to cast votes

Kesarwani Apartments, Plot No 4, Sector 5, Dwarka, hosted an event organised under the Association of Neighbourhood Ladies Get-Together campaign. The event was held on April 11. The campaign aims at making women aware of the municipal election round the corner and the importance of casting votes.

Women from the society and other apartments, such as Jhelum Arorvansh and Garden Estate, attended the event headed by Cicily Kodiyan, president of the association.

A resident of Sheetal Vihar Apartments in Sector 23, Kodiyan said, “Last time the voting percentage in Dwarka was a meagre 12 per cent. To make sure the count rises this time, we are organising various events in all sectors of Dwarka.”

“No one appreciates if the municipality does some good work, but if it doesn’t function well, everyone starts complaining. We know its responsibility but despite being educated we ignore our duty to vote. Municipal elections are important, as it directly has a bearing on our daily life. We want women residents to realise their responsibility and cast their votes,” added Kodiyan.

The campaign, which started on March 24, has conducted more than 10 similar sessions in different sectors of Dwarka so far.
