Khaitan Public School parents put their foot down, won’t pay hiked fee! Parents during the meeting with the city magistrate

A group of parents of children studying in Khaitan Public School, a private school in Sector 40, Noida, met Ramanuj Singh, the city magistrate, at his office in Sector 19 on April 15 to register their complaint against fee hike by the school.

Singh is heading a three-member committee constituted to look into the issue of fees hike by private schools in the city. The parents gave him their complaint in writing and also sent a copy of the complaint to NP Singh, district magistrate, Gautam Budh Nagar.

The complaint reads that the school administration has been raising the fee every year, which has become a burden to parents. The group also informed the city magistrate that they won’t be depositing the hiked fee until the government arrives at a decision in the matter.

Praveen Jain, a parent, told City Spidey that the group of parents has also issued a letter to the school administration about their decision to not deposit the hiked fee until government’s decision.

He said that the school students’ parents association has been demanding rollback of the increased fees and development charges.

“We urged Singh [city magistrate] to bring in a regulatory body to monitor the school fee hike and ensure quality education for the students. We also tried to persuade him to instruct the school administration not to force students to buy uniforms and stationery from outlets in the school,” Jain added.
