To promote cycling in the city, a "cyclothon" was organised by Indirapuram Cycling Club (ICC), which has professional and amateur cyclists from in and around Indirapuram. Almost 100 riders from across the NCR took part in the event in the early hours of April 16.

The event began at 5 am near Kala Patthar Park, opposite Gaur Gravity Market, and ended by 11 am. There were two earmarked routes — a 50-km cycling route till Panchsheel Balak Inter College in Greater Noida, and the 100-km route stretching till Pari Chowk and Suraj Chowk, also in Greater Noida.

"We had more than 15 female participants — and one of them, Nitima Magu, was only 13 years old," said Amit Upadhyay, founder of ICC.

This youngest rider completed the 100-km stretch within the time limit of six hours. And she didn’t stop before reaching the finish line.

"It was great watching such a young girl lead other fitness enthusiasts, who were much older than her. She’s certainly an example for others," Upadhyay added.

Two-time Olympian and former hockey player Devesh Chauhan was the chief guest at the event.
