Gurgaon: See a vacant plot? Dump garbage!

At least that’s what seems to be happening in the city, and the empty plot adjacent to Park View Residency in Sector 3, on Palam Vihar Road, is a glaring example of this malpractice.

Gurgaon: See a vacant plot? Dump garbage!

Unfortunately, vacant lands in residential areas across Gurgaon are fast turning into garbage-dumping grounds!

A case in point: The vacant land adjacent to Park View Residency in Sector 3 on Palam Vihar Road.

Last week, residents complained of a foul smell emanating from the area. Shockingly, the police found an unidentified, decomposed body of a man there.

The residents have been living in fear ever since.

“The land is being used to dump garbage despite several complaints to the civic authorities. After the body was recovered, residents have got scared that the vacant land is also being used to dump anything and everything,” said RWA president SC Kumar.

“How can this practice be so rampant unless it is being allowed by MCG! It’s becoming a constant health hazard and the stink is unbearable. Plus, the vehicles that come to drop off the garbage at night make so much racket,” complained another resident, Vani Subramanian.

To this, Nitin Tyagi added, "There are several marriage lawns, halls, hotels and eateries in the area — and all the waste is being dumped here, especially at night. The sweepers, too, leave the garbage from nearby localities here. There’s stagnating water in several places too — perfect conditions for a malarial outbreak."

MCG, however, refuted the charges and said they were not aware of garbage being dumped illegally in the vacant plot in Sector 3.

Ambika Prasad, chief sanitary inspector of MCG, said, “We have not received any complaint from residents, but we will inspect the area and ensure it is cleaned. If anyone is dumping garbage there, we will certainly take action against them.”
