Residents of Ridgewood Estate in DLF City Phase 4 will now have a gas pipeline, thanks to the efforts of the society RWA.
The RWA has spent approximately Rs 50 lakh for the pipeline, which is a far safer than LPG cylinders.
The estate has 924 flats, with almost 2,000 residents. More than 60 per cent of the flats have registered for the pipeline service and more will be applying for it.
RWA president Sanjay Batra said, “We were concerned about the safety of our residents. The gas pipeline is easy to operate and chances of cylinder bursts are also eliminated. Moreover, it is economical compared to LPGs. Setting up the pipeline is a one-time expense — it just requires regular maintenance.”
And residents are certainly happy.
Besides the safety issue, most feel a gas pipeline does away with the need of keeping cylinders in the kitchen, which throws open a lot of space.
A senior resident, RB Mathur, said, “I stay alone, and I really appreciate this service. It is difficult at my age to handle the burden of booking a cylinder — sometimes I forget. So this pipeline will make my life easier.”
