Will the parents' protest affect Khaitan Public School's decision?

Parents of children studying in Khaitan Public School, in Sector 40, Noida, protested outside the school gate on April 19 against the management’s decision to hike fees.

Protesters, holding placards, gathered outside the private school at 7.30 am in large numbers and raised slogans against the school management.

Two vans of Noida police were deployed outside the school to control the crowd. They demanded a meeting with the school management and a rollback of the hike. However, when the school management refused to meet them, they blocked the road close to the exit.

The protests continued till 10.30 pm, after which the management acceded to meet the parents on April 21.

Ritesh Kumar, a parent, said, “We want the school to roll back the hiked fees for the academic session 2017-2018.”

When City Spidey contacted the school administration, an official from the school said that the school principal would get back shortly — anybody else was not authorised to comment.

The parents had lodged a complaint with the city magistrate earlier, urging him to instruct the school to hold the fee hike till the government came out with a clear decision.

Earlier this month, the district magistrate of Gautam Budh Nagar had formed a three-member committee to look into the issue of arbitrary school-fee hikes. The committee has already begun its investigation.
