Sec 56, Gurgaon: Why residents stay away from this park

The main park in Sector 56, Gurgaon, located adjacent to a market in the area, wears a deserted look. The irony is that despite being the only closest park for residents of the sector, residents hardly visit the park.

Moreover, residents of sectors 56 and 57, and Sushant Lok II and III who visit the market keep away from the park.

Swati Baweja, a resident of Sector 56, says, “With poor lighting, no safety measures and pigs roaming in the park, it is no place for children. The deplorable state of the park keeps people away. I have never seen a park in such a state.”

There is also stagnant water in the park and foul smell emanating from garbage dumped on the main road near the park. The park has become a breeding ground for mosquitoes and pigs.

Mahesh Dayma, area councillor, told City Spidey, “We have spoken to the Haryana Urban Development Authority (HUDA) and they have assured that work would soon begin on developing the park.”

When City Spidey spoke to Yashpal Yadav, HUDA administrator, he said, “We have already laid the construction material for walkways in the park. We’ve begun the maintenance work and the park would be ready for the residents soon.”
