Parents plan action against DPS GreNo for hiking fee

Parents of children studying in Delhi Public School (DPS), Sector Gamma 2 of Greater Noida, on April 23 gathered at the City Park to discuss their plan against the school's exorbitant hike fee.

Parents complained that the school had hiked fees by almost 200 per cent in the past six years. While the school fee in 2011 was Rs 54,000, the current fee charged by the school is Rs 1,60,000.

Neeti Srivastav, a parent, told City Spidey that whenever they talked to the school authority about the fee hikes, they were told their complaint will be forwarded to the school's higher management. "And then there is no communication from the school about the issue," added Srivastav.  "We have decided to meet the NP Singh, District Magistrate of GB Nagar, to complain against the fee hike,"

Dr Kuldeep Malik, another parent, said the schools not only hiked fee but also forced parents to buy books and uniforms at a much high cost as compared the market cost. "The schools also sell NCERT books at a much higher price than the original cost," said Dr Malik.
