Why Raisina Residency wants this mobile tower removed

A mobile tower located outside Raisina Residency, a residential society in Sector 59, Gurgaon, has become a cause for concern for the residents.

They have been demanding that the tower be immediately shifted to another location as radiations from the tower would have an adverse effect on the health of various species of birds living in Aravalli Hills located behind the tower. They have even sent an email to the mobile company about the issue.

There are also several low-income households at a distance of less than 50 metres from the tower. Rakesh Lal, a resident, says, “The tower would also affect the health of people living near the tower.”

“There are many children and elderly residents in our society. Radiations from the tower will adversely affect their health,” says Shalini Goyal, another resident.

Vaishali Aggarwal, another of the residents, tells City Spidey, “The land owner has rented the land just for money, without giving much thought to the effects of the mobile tower on the environment.”

When City Spidey spoke to MD Sinha, conservator of forests (CF), he said, “If residents complain to us, we will take appropriate action. We will not allow anybody to harm the environment.”
