Gurgaon police, IMA celebrate April 26 as ‘No Honking Day’

Gurgaon Police, in association with Indian Medical Association (IMA), Gurgaon, celebrated April 26 as “No Honking Day” at HUDA City Centre Metro Station.

Traffic police personnel and doctors ran a campaign to raise awareness about the ill effects of noise pollution and traffic rules. They also distributed stickers discouraging the use of horns to commuters.

Several senior officials of IMA and Gurgaon police were present during the campaign. Dr Naresh Sharma, IMA president, Gurgaon, told City Spidey, “Using horns for no reason causes a lot of noise pollution, which not only affects hearing but also increases the risk of heart attacks and psychological problems. I urge commuters to use horns only when there is a need.”

“Every year, April 26 will be celebrated as ‘No Honking Day’ in the city,” said Balbeer Singh, DCP (traffic).
