Potholes are not the only problem on this Gurgaon road

The stretch acts as a direct approach road to Uniworld Gardens I on Sohna Road, and also leads to Malibu Towne and a few commercial complexes.

Potholes are not the only problem on this Gurgaon road

Despite several complaints lodged with Municipal Corporation of Gurgaon (MCG), repairs on a service lane leading to Uniworld Gardens I, on Sohna Road, Gurgaon, have not been done. The stretch also directly leads to Malibu Towne, another residential complex, and various other corporate complexes on Sohna Road.

Residents claimed that driving through the stretch was a major headache and the pothole-riddled road also caused severe dust pollution in the area. They said the situation was worse during monsoons.

However, the road's appalling condition is not the only problem. Encroachments have reduced its motorable width considerably.

“We have approached MCG several times with the problem," said Nirlept Sigh, RWA president of Uniworld Gardens I. "Owing to the heavy traffic congestion on Sohna Road at all times, people tend to take the service lane. This causes traffic jam on the service lane. It gets really tough to enter and exit the condominium. Further, the encroachments have made our life hell. MCG has not even lifted a finger to do anything about the problem.”

Sohna Road is a traffic-dense area, owing to the fact that the area has more than 20 condominiums and gated societies, a number of malls and eateries.

Frequent commuters on the road said they had to keep servicing their cars owing to the road's condition.

“We had repaired the road earlier as well," said Amit Khatri, additional commissioner, MCG. "We will make sure the road is repaired before the monsoons."
