Dwarka: What better way to have fun with the silvers than the golden oldies?

Dwarka Kala Sargam, or DKS, organised a musical evening for Godhuli, an old-age home in Sector 2. Residents from across Dwarka came together to perform ghazals and old Hindi film numbers by Mohammad Rafi, Lata Mangeshkar, Asha Bhonsle, Hemant Kumar, Suraiya and Mukesh.

“Most of our members are either singers or just like singing,” said Shashi Jain, secretary of DKS and a resident of Mass Apartments in Sector 10. “We came together and had a fun time singing the golden oldies. There were some couples who performed duets. That’s always a hit!”

Residents of Godhuli were happy that DKS took out time for them and requested them to organise a similar event soon. Most senior citizens were seen holding the singers’ hands and singing along. The event was brought to life by the synchronised claps that reverberated through the room.

The performers who deserve notable mention are: Karuna Srivstava from White Rose Apartments, Sector 13; Promila Malik from Jagran Apartments, Sector 22; RK Jain from Mass Apartments, Sector 10; Jayalakshmi from Heritage Tower, Sector 3; Kamlesh Soni from Manchahat Apartments, Sector 10; Ritu Dogra from Vidya Sagar, Sector 6; MS Rao from Sector 1; DP Sharma from Skylark Apartments, Sector 6; and Kanwaljeet Singh and Amarjeet Singh from Indrapuri.
