Power woes: Ardee City seeks government intervention

Residents want the issue addressed before the Municipal Corporation of Gurgaon takes over the society.

Power woes: Ardee City seeks government intervention Residents during the protest held on April 22

Residents of Ardee City, Sector 52, Gurgaon, wrote a complaint to the district town planner (DTP) and Hayrana urban local bodies on May 2 to draw their attention to the problem of insufficient power supply.

Residents allege that a 5MW electricity load was sanctioned for the township but as there were not many residents initially, the consumption was low. But now the area needs double the approved load. While the developer and Dakshin Haryana Bijli Vitaran Nigam (DHBVN) are caught up in formalities, residents continue to suffer.

Ardee Infrastructure Private Limited, the developer, says that the management has applied for an additional 5MW load with the DHBVN and is waiting for its response.

“The developer and DHBVN officials are trying to dilute the main issue and convey that problems such as short circuits and tree branches are causing tripping, which leads to power cuts. But the real problem is inadequate power available with the developer. We want the government to address this matter before the society is transferred to MCG,” says Nihal Mandhotra, a resident who was part of the protest earlier.

Earlier, on April 22, residents had held a protest over poor and erratic power supply.

When City Spidey spoke to Anil Hasija, general manager, Ardee Infrastructure Private Limited, he said, “As we’ve already said, we have applied for the additional 5 MW load and hope to get a go-ahead soon. Once that happens, we will start working on the [electrical] infrastructure.”
