Dwarka, Sector 12: DDA to BSES, and then back again

Who is responsible for maintaining the streetlights, the frustrated residents ask.

Dwarka, Sector 12: DDA to BSES, and then back again

Defunct streetlights have become the norm in Dwarka. This time it is Sector 12.

The residents have knocked on all doors — DDA, MCD, BSES — but no one seems concerned.

A resident of Abhiyan Apartments, Pankaj Dhingra, has written several times to the authorities about the issue. He said, “The maintenance of streetlights has been handed over to BSES by DDA, but the former is not doing anything about it. What do we do now? When we approach BSES, they say DDA is responsible, and when we go to DDA, they send us back to BSES!”

Without lights, the entire area is thrown into darkness, and the residents feel unsafe venturing out after sundown.

MP Singh, a resident of Shubham Apartments, reacted, “This has been the scenario for a long time. When will the authorities listen up?”

Another resident of the area, Monica Verma, said, “Despite several complaints, neither the police nor the civic authorities are doing anything.”
