The new UP government has received a deluge of complaints against officers and public servants from Ghaziabad residents.

Recently, residents wrote to UP Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath and his office about the deputy registrar (DR) of the Meerut zone. In their letter, residents blamed the DR of misusing his judicial powers and coercing money from helpless residents who were involved in society affairs. The letter said that since the DR’s orders could only be transcended by the high court, residents had no option but to approach the latter over trivial issues such as AOA elections.

A resident and an AOA member of ATS Advantage also mentioned that the DR had repeatedly passed biased orders based on false allegations of other residents. The resident alleged that the DR's orders flouted the provisions of the UP Apartment Act, 2010.

At times, the orders even caused unexplained hurdles in conducting maintenance-related activities in the society. Such issues are being faced by several societies, such as ATS Advantage and Jaipuria Sunrise Greens.

The residents said that on several accounts, the residents had to approach Allahabad High Court to get a check on such orders.

Members of FedAOA, the apex body of AOAs in Ghaziabad, pointed out that most of the problems occurred due to the absence of a local registrar's office for Noida and Ghaziabad. They had also approached the previous government with the request, but to no avail. Looking at the resident woes, Vijay Kumar Yadav, the former vice-chairman of Ghaziabad Development Authority (GDA), had also written to UP's principal secretary (finance) for a local registrar's office, but no development took place.

Speaking to City Spidey, Alok Kumar, patron of FedAOA, said the federation will resume its demand for a local registrar's office from the Yogi-led government. “We are planning to approach the government in Lucknow with the demand, as it affects thousands of residents,” added Kumar.
