Flyover to decongest traffic near HUDA City Centre Metro station?

Traffic chaos near HUDA City Centre Metro station may soon have a solution. The Haryana Urban Development Authority (HUDA) is considering the possibility of an elevated road or a flyover to decongest traffic.

Speaking to City Spidey, Vikas Gupta, chief administrator, HUDA, said, “We are planning to connect Sushant Lok and Subhash Chowk, but we need to see if that is feasible. The report by a consultant, who is analysing the possibility and the route of the flyover, will be considered before a making a decision.”

“The tender will be floated once the report comes. The report will be ready in a couple of months and it will help us decide the details of the project,” he added.

Traffic is usually congested at the two intersections near the Metro station. One roundabout is just outside South City and the other is near Park Plaza hotel, Sushant Lok I. Autos and taxis waiting for passengers in the area between the Metro station and Fortis Memorial Research Institute (Fortis hospital) also aggravates the situation and is a nuisance for commuters.

“Crossing this stretch daily is a big headache. The small roundabout is worse and pedestrians cross the road even when there is a green light,” says Nandita Ghosh, a resident of Sector 40 who goes to work in Sushant Lok I, Gurgaon.

While there won’t be any immediate relief from the congested traffic, the possibility of the same in the future is certainly good news for residents of the city.
