The SDM has scheduled another meeting on May 8, and also referred the matter to the Fee and Fund Regulatory Committee.

DPSG gave one of the lamest excuses for turning up late at a parents-SDM meeting

The sub-divisional magistrate (SDM) of Gurgaon, Bharat Bhushan Gogia, has summoned the authorities of Delhi Public School Ghaziabad (DPSG), Palam Vihar, for not attending the meeting scheduled for May 3 at 10.30 am.

The SDM had arranged the meeting with the school authorities and the parents over the issue of fee hike.

Though parents arrived for the meeting on time, there was no representative from the school. They came only after the meeting was over.

The SDM has now referred the matter to the Fee and Fund Regulatory Committee (FFRC) headed by Divisional Commissioner (DC) D Suresh. The SDM has also ordered the DPSG management to attend the meeting scheduled for May 8.

Speaking to City Spidey, SDM Gogia said, "We have summoned the school management for not attending the meeting. They will have to meet us on May 8. I have referred the case to FFRC chairman D Suresh. Now he will look into the matter. The school authorities cannot ignore our orders.”

Yashish Yadav, a parent, said, "We are happy with the SDM’s decision. He did right in summoning them again.”

Dev Kumar, another parent, added, "After the SDM's decision, we can hope for some sort of resolution. The school officials were making excuses to stay away from the meeting.”

DPSG officials did not respond to the questions posed by City Spidey.

SN Bhatia, DPSG director (academics), simply said, "We got late due to traffic. Our intentions were not wrong.”

There was yet another issue to be addressed.

The erstwhile Chiranjiv Bharti School in Palam Vihar was acquired by the Delhi Public School Ghaziabad Society and renamed DPSG Palam Vihar. However, the school continues to hand out school-leaving certificates under the name of Chiranjiv Bharti School.

When City Spidey broached the subject, Bhatia said, “Our school is not affiliated right now. We have permission to run the school till Standard VIII. So classes IX and XII students are still given certificates from Chiranjiv Bharti School.”
