Gurgaon: No water supply on May 4 in these areas

Sectors 3, 4, 5, 6, 7, 21, 22, 23 and parts of Old Gurgaon will be affected due to a leakage in the master pipeline.

Gurgaon: No water supply on May 4 in these areas The repair work in progress

Residents of sectors 3, 4, 5, 6, 7, 21, 22, 23, and parts of Old Gurgaon will not get water supply on May 4 due to a leakage in the master  pipeline in Sector 5.

Haryana Urban Development Authority is advising residents to use water frugally and is working to repair the pipeline.

Bhoop Singh, executive engineer, HUDA, told City Spidey, “The master pipeline in Sector 5 on Palam Vihar road is leaking.  There will be no supply of water in several areas of the city tomorrow. We are appealing to the residents to not waste water.”

“Don’t wash your home and vehicles using water pipes. Please use a bucket to water the plants. Don’t leave the taps running when there is no need of water. If you see a leakage in a pipeline anywhere, please inform the department. We are committed to ensuring proper supply of water,” added Singh.

Meanwhile, a group of residents from sectors 21, 22, 23 and 23A met Yashpal Yadav, HUDA administrator, on May 3 and appealed to improve the supply system.

Malkhan Singh, president of Sector 23A RWA, said, “We met the Huda administrator as we did not receive a single drop of water in past three days. We have not received any information from the authority about the water supply disruption on Thursday.”

Yadav told City Spidey, “I have directed the engineers to repair the leakage immediately. I have also directed the engineers to make sure water supply remains uninterrupted from HUDA’s Basai plant to the underground reservoir of the sectors.”

SS Yadav, president of Sector 23 RWA, said that it was surprising that HUDA’s newly laid water pipeline developed leakage.

The new pipeline, commissioned on April 10, was meant to augment the 15-20 MGD of treated water supply to these areas.

Dinesh Vashisht, president of RWAs of sectors 3, 5 and 6, said, “HUDA officials are saying that there will be no supply of water tomorrow but we did not get a single drop of water even today. Due to the leakage, water worker tanks are empty. Water was supplied last at 9 pm yesterday.”

It is worth noting that HUDA's pipelines developed leakages or got damaged several times in past three months. In February, water pipeline was damaged twice near Sector 17C. In April,  the pipeline near Signature Tower was damaged twice while Rajiv Chowk pipeline was damaged during digging by NHAI-appointed contractor.
