The 10-km stretch of Barapullah flyover's third phase will reduce travel time by an hour.

No more traffic signals between Mayur Vihar and INA. Great! But when?

Those commuting from Noida and Mayur Vihar towards South Delhi's Sarai Kale Khan and INA will soon enjoy a smooth, traffic-free ride, thanks to the third phase of the Barapullah flyover. Construction work on the 10-km stretch is already under way and is expected to be completed in the next six months.

The flyover will be supported on 21 pillars, of which 13 will lie between the Yamuna and Mayur Vihar Phase I. It will connect to the existing Noida-Delhi link road at Mayur Vihar Phase I.

"There will be five loops in the stretch, of which two loops will connect to Mayur Vihar Phase I," said an official. "The loop will allow commuters to turn towards either Noida or Akshardham."

The official further told City Spidey that this would be the first signal-free corridor in the city. The upcoming elevated corridor will reduce travel time by an hour by providing a signal-free ride from Mayur Vihar Phase I to INA.

Manoj Trivedi, a senior Public Works Department (PWD) official and project manager of this ongoing project, told City Spidey that it would take at least six months to complete the project.

However, City Spidey came to know that the Rs 960-crore project was to be ready by March 2017. Although the PWD officials have claimed that the project will be ready in half a year, they have not committed to a fixed date yet.

The first phase of the Barapullah elevated corridor was commissioned during the Commonwealth Games 2010 from Sarai Kale Khan to Jawaharlal Nehru stadium. The second phase, starting from New Friends Colony, was opened to the public a couple of months back.
