Service lanes dug up for repair work are never repaired, leaving half the road non-commutable. DDA, however, has decided to look the other way.
A Sector 12 road in front of Sri Hari and Sahyadri Aparments
Residents of various sectors across Dwarka have been facing problems due to dug-up service lanes in front of their societies. And DDA has done nothing but twiddle its thumbs.
At many places, even the main roads have been dug up at turning points! Most of the roads have been left in this state for almost a year now.
Instances abound — near DPS Dwarka towards Ekta Apartments in Sector 3; from Vidyut Apartments to Sri Hari Apartments in Sector 12; in front of Mandakini Apartments and Ashadeep Apartments in Sector 2; at Ashirvad Chowk; in the service lane of Sector 5 near Lovely Home Apartments; at Jhand Chowk; and at Kargil Chowk. There are more.
PC Xavier, from Sahyadri Apartments in Sector 12, said, “The road in front of my society has been left in this state for almost a year now. Almost three fourth of the road in front of societies in our lane is in this condition. The situation worsens when the rains start. DDA should immediately restore this road.”
President of Sri Hari Apartments, NC Mishra, said, “The road was dug up by the electrical department for laying cable lines, but it wasn’t restored after the work was done. We have informed the civic bodies, but no action has been initiated. Almost half the road is non-commutable!”
Advocate KS Bhati of Ganpati Apartments in Sector 9 — also the president of FORWAS, or Federation of RWAs, in Sector 9 — said, “The roads must be restored as soon as possible. This is a sheer violation of the rights of commuters and pedestrians. We will take up the matter with the authorities. If needed, we’ll take legal recourse.”
