Gurgaon: Emerald Hills homebuyers protest against builder

Homebuyers of Emerald Hills, a residential project in Sector 65, Gurgaon, protested outside the builder’s office in Sikandarpur on May 6.

About 100 homebuyers gathered outside Emaar MGF’s office and raised slogans against the builder over delay in giving possession of flats. They alleged that the builder had promised possession in 2012 but has failed to do so.

Umesh Sapra, Emerald Hills Owners Welfare Association, told City Spidey, “The developer had launched the project in 2009. He promised us to give possession in three years. The developer has also stopped construction at the site. If you look at the site, you would know that the work cannot be completed in three years. If the builder manages to give us possession even by 2020, it would be a big accomplishment.”

Rama Chawla, a homebuyer, said, “We’ve met the builder several times but we were given false assurances. We are fed up with their hollow promises. If the developer does not give us possession soon, we will hold a big protest.”

Supriya Yadav, another homebuyer, said, “We spent all our hard-earned money in buying the flat. Now, we have to pay both the rent and the EMI.”
