Can the DDA park in Vasundhara Enclave be revived again?

Can the DDA park in Vasundhara Enclave be revived again?

A DDA park adjacent to Overseas Apartments in Vasundhara Enclave, once a green respite for residents of the area, has now become a barren piece of land.

Spread over three acres, this park was developed by DDA, the city’s land-owning agency, some 20 years ago. Even five to six years back, it was one of the largest and greenest parks in the area, but due to poor maintenance by the DDA’s horticulture department, it now wears a deserted look and has no green cover.

BS Rawat, a resident of Delux Apartments, told City Spidey, “It was a beautiful park even until a few years back. There was regular gardening and other maintenance work. In fact, there was a volleyball court and a badminton court as well. It had a variety of plants along its boundary and the ground had a carpet of grass. It used be a common meeting ground for nearly 500 residents. Today, it lies utterly neglected!”

He added that residents had approached DDA and asked for the park’s revival. As a result, a couple of days back, DDA workers released water from a sewer-treatment plant into the park.

“We have demanded regular water springs. We are waiting for the next course of development. We are hopeful that residents of this area will be able to visit this park again,” said JP Sharma, president of Overseas Apartments.
