The Municpal Corporation of Gurgaon (MCG) is planning to take over four more private colonies that include Sushant Lok II, South City I and II, and Ardee City. It had earlier announced the takeover of Sushant Lok I, DLF phases I to III, and Palam Vihar.

The process of the takeover is to be completed in two phases from May 15 to June 30. V Umashankar, MCG commissioner, told City Spidey, “We have asked the members of private colonies to come for a meeting on May 16. We want them and the RWAs to agree on certain conditions after which we will decide further course of action. All the private colonies will be taken over in a while.”

However, in March this year, MCG had refused to take over the maintenance of colonies saying that the developers needed to improve basic amenities, such as roads, drainage system, parks, garbage disposal, water pipelines and community centres, before it could take over.

In February, 2016, the Haryana Chief Minister had ordered the transfer of maintenance of five private colonies that included DLF phases I to III, Sushant Lok Phase I and Palam Vihar from the Haryana Urban Development Authority (HUDA) to MCG. The proposal for takeover of South City I and II was also sent.

MCG maintains that incomplete infrastructure and lack of basic facilities in these colonies led to the delay in takeover.

Haryana government came to the conclusion that lack of funds with HUDA resulted in poor civic facilities in its sectors and therefore transferred the sectors to MCG. In February, the government had also approved the transfer of 33 HUDA sectors to the MCG.
