Ramprastha calls police on protesting buyers in Gurgaon

The angry buyers, who were promised possession of flats in View, Atrium and Edge by 2012, were even more infuriated by this act on the part of the builder.

Ramprastha calls police on protesting buyers in Gurgaon

More than 200 homebuyers of various Ramprastha projects today protested in front of the company’s office in Sector 44, Gurgaon, against the delay in delivery of flats. According to buyers, Ramprastha was supposed to deliver about 2,000 flats in its projects View, Atrium and Edge by 2012 as per the builder-buyer agreement - but even five years on, they don’t have possession. Buyers said they had even paid 85-90 per cent of the total amount.

More than 500 Ramprastha buyers have formed an association to fight against the builder.

Buyers gathered around 11 am with banners and pamphlets, and raised slogans against the developer. But what infuriated the already enraged crowd more was the builder calling in the police to stop them entering the office.

“The security locked the office doors the moment they saw us,” said an angry buyer. “In spite of the two-hour protest, nobody from the developer’s side came to talk to us. On top of that, they even called the police!”

“We have been meeting the builder regularly. But the builder has a new excuse every time for the delay, and there has been no progress on work on the ground level,” said Pradip Rahi, president of the buyers’ welfare association of Ramprastha, who had also invested in an Atrium flat in 2009.

Buyers said the delivery of flats in Ramprastha’s other projects - Skyz and Rise, with 1,000 flats – was also promised in 2014 and 2015, but even those stood delayed.

The developer could not be contacted for comment.
