Residents of Sector 26, Noida, are a worried lot these days. With rising incidents of crime and miscreants on the loose, residents are demanding regular night patrolling by the police in the area.
“Since April 23, six incidents of theft have taken place in the area. Night patrolling is important to keep such crimes in check. Everyone is living in fear and is refraining from leaving their houses,” says Manoj Kesari, a resident.
Members of the RWA say that two burglaries were reported on May 8 and both the burglaries happened during the day time. The police says that it has lodged FIRs in both the cases and an investigation is underway.
Anil Kumar Shahi, station house officer (SHO), Sector 20 police station, told City Spidey, “We are looking into the CCTV footage of the area and the search operation is going on. These thieves are teenagers and we are working on busting the gang. Cognizance of the complaints has been taken and cases have been registered.”
Residents say the sector has important establishments such as schools and a hospital, and the entry to the sector is also not restricted.
