Gurgaon: Following a seven year struggle for the amenity, the town and country planner, Haryana, has ordered the builder to construct the centre by April, 2018.
Residents of South City II, Gurgaon, have a reason to rejoice. After several complaints from the residents, the town and country planner (TCP), Haryana, has ordered Unitech Group to construct a community centre by April, 2018.
Neeraj Yadav, president of RWA, told City Spidey, “As per norms, the developer is bound to build a community centre for public utility purpose. The community centre has to be built at a site assigned approximately at a distance of 300 metres from the existing club in Block F.”
The order has come as a big success for residents who had been demanding a community centre for seven years.
Residents say that the builder has built a club called Club Patio in the township, which is being used as a commercial building. Krishan Pal Yadav, a resident, said, “We used to celebrate Republic Day and Independence Day in the club and have incurred a lot of expenses. This year we celebrated Republic Day in the park. Residents cannot spend so much on the club. A community centre should be separate from a club and for common utility purposes. According to TCP rules, the developer cannot build a club in place of community centre for commercial benefits. We are really overjoyed as the order is in our favour.”
Following the orders, the officials from TCP department and RWA members finalised a site for the community centre in Block H on May 20. Residents then put a signage at the site for the community centre.
