Eminent singers mesmerised the audience as residents got a chance to enjoy the music in the sub city itself.
A ghazal evening was organised in Sector 8, Dwarka, by Sur Sanjeevani, a musical group of residents, on May 21.
Eminent ghazal singer Kalyan Roy, who is associated with All India Radio, mesmerized the audience with renditions of Mehandi Hassan’s ghazals.
Other singers from the community, such as Dr Shailesh Kumar, a resident of Daffodils Apartments, Sector 6, and Madhumita Vishwas, a resident of DDA pocket, Sector 22, also performed.
Music lovers from various societies such as Jagran Apartments, Sector 22, Guru Apartments, Sector 6, Vidyasagar Apartments, Sector 6, Ekta Apartments, Sector 3, Heritage Tower, Sector 6, and Ganpati Apartments, Sector 9, were present.
PS Dhunta, president of Sur Sanjeevani and also president of Sector 8 RWA, told City Spidey, "Earlier, we used to do programmes on film songs. But from today we have started a new trend to organise exclusive programmes on gazals. This was appreciated by the community people. More such gazal evenings would be organised in future."
Promila Malik, a resident of Jagran Apartments, said, "This is a very good initiative by Sur Sanjeevani. We could enjoy ghazals here in Dwarka."
“This was the kind of musical evening for which we go to other parts of Delhi on weekends. Now, with such programmes, community people can enjoy their favourite gazals in their own sub city," said Madhuri Varshney, a social activist and resident of Ekta Apartmenta.
