Continued efforts by residents of housing societies in Sector 137, Noida, to get a traffic signal at the intersection near Panchsheel Balak Inter College, Sector 91, may soon bear fruit.
RP Singh, project engineer of Noida Authority, told City Spidey that this was a long-standing demand from the residents of the area. He said, “Though we haven’t fixed a deadline, I hope the work will be completed in the next two months.”
“A survey was conducted by officials of Noida Authority and an estimate is being prepared. It will be sent to the higher authorities for approval,” he added.
The installation of the traffic signal will benefit around 10,000 residents living in the eight societies in Sector 137, such as Exotica Fresco, Paras Tierea, Paramount Floraville and Gulshan Vivante.
Anurag Pandey, a resident of Paras Tierea, told City Spidey that about six to seven major accidents had taken place in the area due to the absence of a traffic signal. “We met officials of Noida Authority on several occasions to press for this demand. Though after a long time, we will finally have a traffic signal in the area,” he added.
