Gurgaon, Sec 46: Now this is what we call a park!

Find out if you can go visit it this weekend. It is an oasis of beauty and calm in the mad rush we call city life.

Gurgaon, Sec 46: Now this is what we call a park!

At a time when residents across the NCR are ruing the sorry state of neighbourhood parks, a particular lawn in Gurgaon, Sector 46, stands out like a dazzling star.

Described as Palm Garden and hailed as one of best in the city, it is a green oasis for those who want to spend a few quiet hours away from the mad rush of city life.

Spread across 3,500 sq m and set up in 2013 by the sector RWA, residents and HUDA horticulture department at a cost of Rs 8 lakh, this park is dotted with the eponymous palm trees and fragrant rose gardens.

But this lawn in not just a pretty sight – it also has all amenities in place, such as jogging tracks for fitness enthusiasts, benches for the elderly and swings for the young. It even has a rain shelter for those who would rather watch the rain than get drenched in it.

Would you rather sit here or get drenched in the rain? It really is a tough call

But what makes this park truly different is how well maintained it is – almost as good as new, say residents.

“I start my day with a walk in the park,” says Ashok Goyal, a resident of the sector. “It is one of the most well-developed and aesthetic parks in the neighbourhood.”

And why not, says an amazed resident, PK Yadav – “the footpath even has tiles on it!”

However, even as residents continue to praise it, the RWA of the sector constantly thinks of ways to make this park even more inviting to visitors.
