Good night? What good night? The nights are horrible, say Ggn Sec 17B residents

Shall we ask DHBVN what the problem is?

Good night? What good night? The nights are horrible, say Ggn Sec 17B residents

Residents’ summer woes are left incomplete without electricity cuts in the NCR - but four to five hours every night! No wonder residents of Sector 17B, Gurgaon, are losing their cool – in more ways than one.

They say they have been facing irregular power supply for the past many days now, so much so that they can’t sleep at night.

“We didn’t have electricity from 12.30 am to 5 am continuously for the past three nights!” said Madhu Gupta, who works for an MNC. “The whole day we work, and if we can’t even get a proper night’s sleep, it’s going to start affecting our health.”

But the problem does not occur only at night. There are frequent power cuts even during the day – some as long as six to seven hours.

For those who have double phases at home things are marginally better. “We have one phase on the ground floor and another on the first,” said Neena Singh, a resident. “Our bedrooms are on the first floor and we spent three sleepless nights when there was no power at all the whole time. But when we realised the ground-floor AC was functioning, we all rushed there with our bedding, but our joy was short-lived – even that phase lost power by 2 am.”

When City Spidey contacted KC Aggarwal, superintendent engineer of Dakshin Haryana Bijli Vitran Nigam (DHBVN), New Gurgaon, he said, “We are aware of the power shortage. This is happening primarily because we are shifting six electricity feeders. But the good news is four have already been shifted, and there is also a new substation coming up in Sector 20, so power issues should be over soon.”
